I have been in the Internet business almost since the beginning. Before there was public access to the Internet, I used my 300 baud modem to visit BBSs and link into other networks such as FIDOnet. Black and white characters - they were GREAT!
My experience includes client management, project management, site building, QA (quality assurance) and site maintenance. I have worked for small and large marketing and interactive companies - most recently at the (now defunct) Boston office of AGENCY.COM.
What does my experience mean for you?
Client and project management experience means that your projects will be done on time and with an understanding of your business needs. No more shrugging shoulders, no more excuses. You save time and money.
My marketing experience with ECHO Strategies means that I can help you tailor your message to the needs and expectations of your visitors on the web. Remember, people looking for information on the web have different expectation than people in the "dead wood world."
What does my technology experience mean for you?
The web is a mish-mash of technologies and abbreviations: ASP, FTP, HTTP, PHP, SQL, SMTP, shtml, etc. Do you really need to become an expert in these to have someone else build a website? Not really. I always try to find the right combination of technology, flexibility and strategy so that you can achieve your business needs within a reasonable expenditure.
For example:
HTML: Sometimes, all you need is a simple site to post your hours, location, contact information and simple marketing materials. If that is the case, many people can build you a simple site, but I can build you a site that is easy to maintain, accessible to all customers (including those with disabilities) and those accessing the web with alternative browsers. Why alienate potential customers if you don't need to?
I build sites to the most common standards so that you can reach more customers.
ASP: If you have information in a Microsoft SQL database, or an Access database, my experience building sites with Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP) will let you get your information onto the web and earning money for you.
PHP: If you need to start getting information into a database and onto the web, there is no less expensive option than the PHP development language and the mySQL database. PHP/mySQL is the least expensive and most stable way of putting dynamic information onto your web site. I can get you up on the web, with a database driven site for much less than you imagine.
JavaScript: JavaScript is a common way of making websites more dynamic within the client's browser. It is used for effects such as rollovers, opening pop-up windows, and verifying forms. I can use JavaScript to give even the simplest site interactivity.
CSS: CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) allows your site colors, spacing, type size, etc. to be attractive and easy to update/change. Using CSS not only makes your site easy to update and more attractive, but makes it more accessible to visitors using older browsers, other access devices, or special tools to enhance accessibility. My experience with CSS ensures you that your site will be easy to update and attractively formatted with CSS compliant browsers, while still being readable with less compliant browsers.
Depending on your needs, I can use many of these technologies to achieve your goals in the most efficient means possible.
